Precepting can be very challenging, especially when the student is struggling. Midwifery students may have difficulty meeting course expectations because of problems with knowledge, attitudes, or skills. Dealing with a student in difficulty can be challenging and draining for preceptors and the MPG. Early identification is important, and a structured intervention has been found to help 90% of struggling students succeed. This workshop will address the common reasons students struggle and how to set up a remediation plan with student, tutor and preceptor involvement.
Target Audience
McMaster MEP preceptors interested in strategies for navigating difficult learning situations.
